Booking Your
Can I make special room requests?
Unique Holiday Tours is happy to advise hotels of any special room requests or requirements, provided we receive them at the time your reservation is made. Please be aware that requests cannot be guaranteed.
How far in advance should I make my reservation?
We encourage you to make your reservation just as early as possible – especially if you are limited to the time period in which you can travel. Unique Holiday Tours are popular and tend to fill quickly.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes, a deposit is required, refer to our brochure or contact us for details.
What are the recommended ages?
Our tours appeal to a broad range of ages but, typically, the majority of our clients are aged 50 plus.
What’s included in the price?
Your tour price includes: a fully escorted and commentated tour, Tour Leader, Tour Driver, accommodation, return ferry crossings (on our South Island tours), most breakfasts and dinners, see tour itinerary for details.
Can I join a tour once it’s started
We recommend you experience the whole tour from start to finish however, you are able to join one of our tours once it has started. Please be aware there is no discount for late arrival or early departure from tour.
There is a group of us that wants to join a tour, is that OK?
Of course, call us or email us straight away so we can ensure there are seats available on your chosen tour.  


Can I make special room requests?

Is there a single booking supplement?
Yes, our tour price is based on twin share accommodation, if you would like to upgrade to a single supplement you can do so, please contact us for details.
What if I need accommodation before or after the tour?
If you require accommodation in Palmerston North the night before the start of the tour or the night of the last day of the tour we can book it for you. We reserve accommodation at the Copthorne Hotel, Palmerston North.
On Tour
Do you accommodate for food allergies and other dietary requirements?
Absolutely no problem, we cater for all special dietary requirements.
What is the policy on Tipping
Tipping is not mandatory, however you can choose to reward a job well done.
What Should I pack?
New Zealand has ever changing weather conditions, please pack for all seasons. Suggestions are as follows:

  • Causal clothing
  • Light rain coat
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Swimming costume
  • Small umbrella
  • Sunglasses
  • Sun tan lotion
  • Insect Repellent
  • Travel alarm clock/or cell phone
  • Torch
  • Camera + video camera
  • Gold coins for laundry
What meals are included while on tour?
Meals are provided as described in the tour itinerary. Hot drinks most of the time are provided with your meal. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are at your own expense, however we do stop at places where tearooms are available.
Are there baggage limitations?
You can bring one suitcase/bag up to 20kg and one cabin bag/day bag. The cabin bag should be small enough to fit in the overhead luggage racks. When packing please be aware that not all accommodation have portage service, however we are happy to assist if required.
Will there be washing and Ironing Facilities?
Coin operated washing machines and dryers are available at most places. Washing powder is available for purchase in small quantities.
Are there Optional excursions on the tours?
Yes there are many exciting optional excursions available on our tours. We will send you a list of the optional excursions available once you have booked your tour. You can book these during your tour.
What kind of Wi-Fi internet access is offered throughout the trip?
Most of our hotels and motels offer Wi-Fi internet access. 
What level of physical activity is demanded each day?
Being in good health and moderately fit will of course help with your enjoyment on tour however we have specifically designed our tours so that guests of most abilities will be able to participate. Please contact us if you have any questions, we are happy to help.
